Lillian is here!

On August 18, 2009, Lillian Lorena entered the world at 4:03pm weighing in at 8 lb 3oz and 20 inches long!
Here is her birth story:

Little Miss Lillian was due to arrive on August 14, 2009, however, she had different plans!
On August 17th, we were sure she would be arriving at any moment - but as the day ended we weren't so sure. Travis took me over some speed bumps at some high speeds hoping it would help pop Lillian out. Once we got home, I started to have contractions that were about 15 minutes apart, but luckily I was able to fall asleep. At 4:00 am, I woke up with contractions at about 7 minutes apart. I woke my mother up and she helped me begin to time them. At 4:45 they started coming at 6 minutes apart, so I jumped in the shower since I knew this would be my last for a while. Once I got out of the shower I woke up Travis to let him know we "are having a baby". His response? "I know we are having a baby." "No silly, I mean, TODAY!!" You should have seen the look in his sleepy eyes - priceless.

I finished getting ready and called the doctor at 6:30am, at which point the contractions were 3 to 4 minutes apart. We were told to come on in.

Travis drove me and my mom and step father Marvin followed in their car. For some reason, I would get a contraction at the worst moments ever, i.e., driving over railroad tracks, speed bumps - not so much fun.

Anyway, by the time we arrived at the hospital at 7:15am they were 2 to 3 minutes apart. They nurses took me right into L&D triage and checked my cervix. At which point I was 3cm dilated and 100% effaced. They decided to admit me and started my IV immediately so that I could receive the epidural as soon as the doctor was ready.

At 9:00am I received the epidural and was extremely happy! The nurses then checked my cervix and I was at 5cm.

We were waiting for the doctor to come and break my bag of waters when they broke on their own at 12:00pm. The nurses checked me again and I was at 10cm! Wahoo!!! My doctor came down at this point and let me know that Lillian was sunny side up, so I labored on my sides for a few hours trying to get her to flip.

Bad news? My epidural wore off during this time period and I was in some serious pain! So they gave me booster and I went a little too numb. So I pushed off and on for an hour with the nurses telling me when I was having a contraction and Lillian flipped over onto her stomach. At 3:45 the nurses called the doctor to let her know that Lillian was ready to come out. At 4:03pm, Lillian Lorena arrived!
